Best tip tracker app for servers and bartenders: 2026 comparison
Short answer: There is no single best tip tracker app. It depends on your phone and your job. ServerLife is a long-running choice on both iPhone and Android and does forecasting well. TipSee is the long-running free option with Excel export and multiple jobs. TipKeepr makes the cleanest PDF tip sheets and a yearly tax summary PDF. Just the Tips is the one with a full Spanish interface on both platforms. Server44 keeps data on the phone and exports PDF and CSV. Goodhands Tip Tracker, our own app, is Android only, lets you type the shift as a sentence, works in English and Spanish, and keeps records in the form the IRS daily tip record describes. The table below has each fact linked to the store listing it came from.
Facts on this page come from each app's App Store listing, the developer's own website, and the Google Play listing as indexed by AppGoblin, all read on October 30, 2026. Prices are US store prices and change often. An empty cell means the listing did not say. Last checked: 2026-10-30.

What does each app do well?
ServerLife is the most installed of the group on Google Play, with 216K+ installs as indexed by AppGoblin. Its free tier tracks tips, hours and notes, totals them by period, and forecasts income from your last 90 days of shifts. Cash vs card, tip-outs, hourly wages and multiple jobs sit behind Premium (App Store). If you want to know what next week is likely to pay before you pick up a shift, this is the one built for that.
TipSee is free with video ads and lists unlimited jobs, tip-outs, hourly wages, weekly, monthly and yearly reports, expenses, photo receipts and Excel export (Play listing via AppGoblin); the iPhone listing groups tip-outs, multiple jobs and hourly wage under its "Advanced" features (App Store). It also covers commissions, which matters if you cut hair or sell on the floor.
TipKeepr is the one most focused on paper output: PDF tip sheets per shift or period and a one-tap yearly tax summary PDF. Tip-outs can be built from sales data and percentages, and pools can be split evenly or by hours (App Store). Its Play listing shows no ads, and Pro is a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Just the Tips tracks cash and card tips, tip-outs by fixed percentage or sales, hourly pay and multiple restaurants. It is the only one of the five competitors whose listing says it is fully localized in Spanish, and Premium is a one-off $1.99 or $19.99 purchase rather than a subscription (App Store).
Server44 stores everything on the phone, needs no account, works offline, exports PDF and CSV, and estimates net income after federal and state taxes (App Store). The free tier tracks one job; unlimited jobs are in Pro.
Goodhands Tip Tracker is ours, so read this row with that in mind. You type the shift the way you would text it ("worked 5 to 11, 180 card, 65 cash, tipped out 30"), the app parses it, shows the card to confirm, and saves it. Tip-out rules fill in the tip-outs on every shift. Nothing leaves the phone: no account, no ads, no cloud. The daily tip record and yearly summary follow the items IRS Publication 531 lists for a daily tip record, as PDF or CSV. The whole app, including the typed shift box, works in Spanish. The limits are real: Android only, no iPhone version, and as of this date it is in closed testing, so you need to ask for the install link. It does not calculate taxes.
How do I choose?
Servers. You need cash and card tips separately, tip-outs by percentage of sales or tips, and your real hourly after tip-outs. On a $1,500 Saturday with $240 card, $40 cash and a 3% busser tip-out, you keep $235 in tips plus $12.78 in cash wage for six hours at $2.13, which is $247.78, or $41.30 an hour. Any app in the table can store that shift; the differences are whether tip-outs are free or paid (ServerLife puts them in Premium) and whether the app computes the tip-out from a rule or you type the amount.
Bartenders. You take tip-outs in as well as paying them out, often from several servers a night. ServerLife lists "Tip Out & Tip In," TipKeepr splits pools evenly or by hours, and Goodhands treats tip-outs you receive as a rule like tip-outs you pay. If you pool with a barback, check that the app records the pool share, since that is the number the IRS says to report, not the gross (IRS Publication 531).
Stylists, barbers and salon staff. Tips often ride on commission and product sales. TipSee lists commissions and sales revenue alongside tips. Multiple-jobs support matters if you rent a chair in two places.
Gig and delivery drivers. Your tips arrive per order through an app, and your expenses (mileage, phone) matter as much as your tips. TipSee and TipKeepr list expense tracking; TipSee adds photo receipts. A restaurant-shaped tracker with a start time, end time and sales field is a loose fit for a day of deliveries.
Anyone on Android who wants Spanish. Just the Tips and Server44 list Spanish on both platforms today. Goodhands is Spanish throughout but Android only and not yet public.
Two questions worth asking before any download. Where does the data live, and can you get it out? An app with cloud backup survives a lost phone; an app with on-device storage keeps your income off someone else's server. Export matters at tax time either way, because your own record of tips kept and tip-outs paid is what you compare against W-2 box 7 (IRS, tip recordkeeping and reporting).
FAQ
Is there a free tip tracker app without ads?
TipKeepr's Play listing shows no ads, with Pro as an optional subscription (AppGoblin). Goodhands Tip Tracker has no ads on any tier but is Android only and in closed testing. ServerLife, TipSee and Just the Tips are free with ads and sell an ad-free tier; Server44's Pro tier lists an ad-free experience.
Which tip tracker apps work on Android?
ServerLife, TipSee, TipKeepr, Just the Tips and Server44 are on both the App Store and Google Play. Goodhands Tip Tracker is Android only.
Do any of these apps file my taxes?
No. TipKeepr produces a yearly tax summary PDF and Server44 estimates net income after taxes, but neither prepares a return. None of the apps replace the report you give your employer by the 10th of each month when tips reach $20 (IRS Publication 531). What they can do is give you the daily record with dates, cash tips, card tips and tip-outs that the IRS describes.
Do I need an app at all?
No. A notebook or a spreadsheet with the Pub 531 columns is a valid daily tip record. The free daily tip record template on this site is one. An app saves the arithmetic and the year-end total.
How were the prices checked?
Each price links to the US App Store listing or the Goodhands site, read on October 30, 2026. Play prices are not shown here because Google Play lists in-app purchases as a range rather than per item. Prices change; the listing is the final word.
